Dr. Addison Desnoyer

Addison_Desnoyer

Addison N. Desnoyer studied chemistry at the University of British Columbia Okanagan, working in the research group of Prof. Kevin M. Smith, where he obtained an inordinate fondness for first-row transition metals. He obtained his Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree in 2012, then joined the group of Prof. Jennifer A. Love at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver to pursue his PhD, examining the fundamental organometallic reactivity of nickel and rhodium complexes. After graduating in 2017, he spent a year at the University of Minnesota working with Prof. Ian A. Tonks to develop new titanium-catalyzed coupling reactions of N-heterocycles. In 2018, he moved to the University of California, Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to work with Profs. T. Don Tilley and Polly L. Arnold in the areas of bimetallic copper complexes and photocatalysis with organolanthanide catalysts, respectively. He began his independent career at Oregon State University in 2022, where his research program focuses on developing new cooperative catalytic methodologies using organometallic complexes of first-row transition metals.

In addition to all the exciting research developments, Addison has long-standing interests in baseball (Go Blue Jays!) and gardening, and recent interests in baking bread and keeping chickens.

Graduate Students

human

Rylan K. Chilcott

Rylan springs from Nebraska, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 2022, he joined the Desnoyer group as a PhD student working on the synthesis of rationally designed Fe catalysts for the valorization of lignin. Outside of lab, he enjoys hiking in the middle of nowhere, writing and recording weird goth music, and writing brilliant novels.

human

Sultana Parvin Rumi

Rumi, originally from Bangladesh, earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in Inorganic Chemistry from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Bangladesh. She joined the Desnoyer group as a Ph.D. student in the fall of 2022. Her research interests primarily focus on bimetallic complexes and their photo-redox activity.Rumi combines her academic pursuits with her love for hiking, traveling, and photography, cherishing every opportunity to explore and capture the beauty of the world around her.

human

Casey A. Rummelhart

Casey is a Washington native from Lake Stevens. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Oregon State, he joined the PhD graduate program in organic chemistry under Dr. Desnoyer. Currently, Casey is working on the synthesis of bimetallic NacNac (β-diketimine) ligands and often works with alkyl phosphines. Outside of the lab, he typically spends time cooking and watching reality television.

Bella_McColl

Isabella (Bella) Mc Coll

Bella is an Oregon native who has lived in Beaverton her whole life. She attended Pacific University in Forest Grove to receive her bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Sticking to her Oregon roots, Bella has now traveled to Corvallis and joined the AND Lab as a PhD student in Winter 2025. For now, she is working on synthesizing biomimetic ligands for bimetallic complexes. When she is not in the lab, Bella loves to crochet and play DnD.

Ifedayo_Egbewole

Ifedayo S. Egbewole

Ifedayo is from Omuo-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. He earned his bachelor's and master's degree in Chemistry from Adekunle Ajasin University and University of Lagos respectively. As a new PhD student in the AND Lab, he is exploring fluorinated bimetallic ligands. Outside of the lab, he loves drama acting whenever he can and watching animal documentaries.

Seth M. Harbol

Seth hails from Bothell, WA. After graduating with a BS in Chemistry, he served in the Army for 10 years before arriving at OSU as a master’s student in 2022. In lab, Seth is working on synthesizing an ylide stabilized boryl ligand for a frustrated Lewis Pair catalyst. Seth is an avid reader of science fiction and likes to take advantage of the many hiking trails in the nearby Coast Range and Cascade Mountains.

Bavita_Kumari

Bavita Kumari

Bavita is a native of India. She received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra, Haryana, India in 2024, where she designed and synthesized novel transition metal complexes with therapeutic potential. In the fall of 2024, she joined Dr. Desnoyer’s group as a postdoctoral scholar, focusing on the synthesis of bimetallic complexes and exploring their catalytic activities. Outside the lab, she enjoys cooking, listening to music and spending time with her family.
